Why Hormones Matter
a crash course in the endocrine system + the link between PCOS & insulin resistance.
‘Oh you’re just hormonal” YES I AM and you are too for that matter!
If it seems like everyone is talking about hormones lately, and everything always connects back to hormones- its because everything connects back to hormones. It may seem like a buzzword but it isn’t some trendy diet that is gonna be debunked any minute- think of this more as society suddenly catching on to what’s been going on under the surface the whole time and realizing how important it is. Finally, hormones are getting the recognition they deserve beyond just being blamed for monthly moodiness.
Of course, we wouldn’t even be talking about hormones in the first place if they were balanced, healthy and not under constant threat. Human lifestyle has changed so much over the past 100 years that even our most basic bodily process are under attack & in disfunction- across the board. But, I digress, we will get to that in a minute.
I first started really learning about hormone function after my first baby, when I was determined to heal my body in a sustainable and mindful manner, after years of unhealthy habits and unkind treatment (even some of the *healthy* habits I had were ultimately dysfunctional, misguided and causing more harm than good to my stressed body). What started as a quest to manage horrible periods and postpartum hormone imbalance turned into one giant rabbit hole of discovery that has connected so many dots and brought a very needed firm foundation to my health journey. But, I realize not everyone has been hyper-focused on hormones for the last three years, so here is a crash course and from there you can journey with me on all the fun tangents and practical implications of healing from the core rather than the symptom!
